Niceland # 6 - New Year's Eve in Reykjavik

"IT’S DARK, IT’S COLD. NO WONDER WE PARTY SO HARD."
New Year’s Eve is the biggest party night of the whole year. The most distinguishing characteristic of an Icelandic New Year’s Eve are the fireworks. Fireworks explode all night long, lasting until 8am in the morning. At midnight, locals gather at major areas of the city to shoot of their collection of fireworks. After the initial mass of explosions, it's common to move to a party or a downtown bar and drink the night away.
