Colors of Tokyo /// Day 43 - Tanabata Festival (七夕 )

Tanabata (七夕) is a Japanese festival which is celebrated seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar.  The festival was imported to Japan from China. It celebrates the meeting of two lovers, represented by two celestial constellation, who are separated by the Milky Way. Their meeting occurs once a year.

Along with the fable, the night is celebrated with written wishes. Patrons hang long colorful strips of paper containing hand written poems, prayers and wishes. They are strung up on leafy bamboo branches.

I feel quite lucky to be able to participate in the Tanabata festival this year! The format for writing a wish is quite easy. Blah Blah Blah, then add 〜ように.

My wish was:

I wish for a fun summer vacation!

A rather modest wish: that summer will be merely hot, not ghastly awfully frighteningly IthinkImaybedying hot.

And ... that you'll enjoy your summer in Tokyo! ^^

Ahhh, what a good wish Rurousha! The summer has been quite mild so far. Hopefully it will stay like that??????
